Mohamed Bakri is a Palestinian actor and film director. Born in 1953 in the village of Shaghur, he received his secondary education in Akka. He then studied Arabic literature and acting at Tel Aviv University. He started his acting career in Habima Theatre, Haifa Theatre and El-Kasaba Theatre in Ramallah. After a few years of acting in Israeli and Palestinian movies, he began to act in international films in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark and Canada. Bakri directed two documentaries, one of them is the controversial Jenin, Jenin (2002) where he interviewed residents of the Jenin refugee camp after the Israeli attack on Gaza in 2002. The documentary was banned by the Israeli film board.
