Rand Beiruty

Rand Beiruty is a Jordanian screenwriter, director, and producer. After completing a master’s degree in media arts at Bauhaus University Weimar, she earned a practice-based PhD from the Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf, focusing on questions of representation and participatory filmmaking. She is the co-founder of Shaghab Films in Amman, a company dedicated to telling inspiring stories about women. She directed the animated short Halfway (2017), the documentary Nudar (2020), as well as the animated narrative short Encountering Samir (2020), followed by Shadows (2024). Her most recent documentary, Tell Them About Us, had its world premiere at CPH:DOX in 2024 and received the ECFA Award for Best European Documentary Feature for Young Audiences at the 64th Zlín Film Festival.
