Born in Tartous, Syria, in 1988, Saeed Al Batal is a journalist, photographer, and filmmaker. He leads numerous photography and reporting workshops. A radio reporter on the Syrian conflict for agencies and institutions around the world, he is one of the founders of the online gallery Sam Lenses and the Humans of Syria project. He has worked as a journalist for radio stations such as NPR and Denmark Radio. The author of several publications on Syrian politics and on cinema, he is also a director of short films and music videos. For several years, he worked with Ghiath Ayoub on the documentary Still Recording (2018), about daily life in the then-besieged city of Douma, in Eastern Ghouta.
