Saira and Nilufer Rahman are sisters and independent filmmakers who grew up in Winnipeg. They have always felt the power of storytelling as a transformative and connecting force, allowing for escape and reflection. In 2010, Saira and Nilufer formed their own company, Snow Angel Films Inc. to officially start producing content to share with the world. After working as both a teacher and principal, Saira is now a filmmaker and theatre actor (One Trunk Theatre's Boundary Avenue, Baby Box and Sarasvati Productions' The Game). Nilufer got into filmmaking after earning a master's degree in history and a degree in photography. She also interned on the set of the hit CBC television series, Little Mosque on the Prairie (2007).    As Bangladeshi-Canadian Muslim women, Saira and Nilufer seek to amplify the voices and stories of marginalized people. Their major works include the feature documentary Arctic Mosque (2013), as well as Prairie Mosque (2018), I Am: A Spoken Word Story (2019), and The Year We Fasted Alone (2021), which focuses on the experiences of Muslim people who had to fast alone during Ramadan in a pandemic. The sisters hope to continue to create content that will engage, inspire, entertain and connect audiences for many years to come !
