Samuel Matteau is a filmmaker from Quebec City. His first short film, Chargé, was presented at the Short Film Corner in Cannes and has made its mark in many international festivals. In 2012, he presented Le combat silencieux, his first feature documentary film, which dealt in an intimate way with his relationship with his mother. He also presented his first feature fiction film, Elsewhere, in 2018. He is most noted as co-director with Guillaume Fournier and Yannick Nolin of a trilogy of short documentary films about Cajun life and culture in Louisiana: Let The Good Time Roll (2017), Acadiana (2019 and Belle River (2022).
