Sound engineer and sound designer trained at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Techniques du Théâtre, Sophie Berger works with sound in a sensitive way. She travelled across France on foot for her sound piece Loire (2013), embarked for 3 months on a container ship for her piece CARGO (2015), produced a sound diary on the city of Dunkerque (2015) and rotated on the supply ship of the French Southern and Antarctic Lands, giving rise to 49°00' SUD (2018). She also composes soundtracks for live performance (dance and theater) and creates for sound installations or exhibitions. Her sound pieces are broadcast on ARTE, France Culture, RTBF and in many festivals in France and abroad. She received the Pierre Schaeffer sound art prize in 2013.
