Vinícius Girnys
Vinícius Girnys is a Brazilian filmmaker working across cinema and advertising. After directing several short films, Samuel and the Light, his first feature-length documentary, was screened at more than thirty film festivals around the world, earning eleven awards and special mentions. The film had its world premiere at Visions du Réel (Nyon, Switzerland) in 2023, followed by screenings in the official competition at Hot Docs (Toronto, Canada) and the Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG) (Guadalajara, Mexico). In 2024, Samuel and the Light received the Reconocimiento Trabajo Decente award at FICCI (Cartagena, Colombia)—presented by the United Nations' International Labour Organization—as well as the Étoile de la Scam in France.
