Yaser Kassab
Born in 1988, Yaser Kassab is an award-winning Syrian filmmaker and producer based in Stockholm. He first made his mark as a photographer while studying economics and finance in Aleppo. Holding a master’s degree in film from the University of Gothenburg, his work focuses on representation and personal narratives. His acclaimed documentary trilogy (Chasing the Dazzling Light, 2023; I Have Seen Nothing, I Have Seen All, 2019; On the Edge of Life, 2017), which offers a poetic perspective on the Syrian tragedy, has been screened at major festivals such as the Venice Biennale, IDFA, Cinéma du Réel, and Visions du Réel, earning multiple awards including IDFA’s Best First Feature and the Joris Ivens Prize at Cinéma du Réel, among others.
