Chronicle of a Crisis
Sarah and Simon, a couple of young millennials are facing the repossession of their apartment in the midst of an unprecedented housing crisis in the province of Quebec. They decide to turn the camera on themselves to document their daily life during their challenging search for a new affordable place to live in. Filmed in close intimacy, this portrait depicts the struggle of a generation confronted by a new global phenomenon.

The housing crisis plaguing our neighborhoods and cities is portrayed here on a deeply personal level. While it is fundamentally a social issue, it is first and foremost experienced in every corner of our homes, our lives, and our innermost feelings.
Before writing this review, I checked in on the couple. Despite their victory in court regarding rent setting at the very end of the documentary, Sarah and Simon were once again hit with an eviction. They ultimately left the rental market and became owners of their own apartment.
Having gone through similar upheavals myself, all I want to add here are a few resources. Because resistance begins with access to information, with an understanding of one's rights, and with solidarity. This crisis has become an ongoing story the media reports on every day, yet one that seems to have little impact on those in power. In that sense, it has evolved into a chronic crisis at the heart of our social system.
