From St. John's Newfoundland, a woman leaves messages on the voice mail of a mysterious woman named Sabrina... _The Rise and Fall of a Long Distance Relationship_ was produced as part of the 5th edition of the Montreal Super 8 Festival, whose main rule is to shoot a single 50-foot reel, with no post-editing. The theme for 2008 was "Revenge".

Raw nature, fragments of memory, the geography of intimacy. The infinite horizon and the crashing waves on the rocks evoke the turbulence of a long-distance love affair. In a tone of confidence, the highs and lows of this relationship are progressively revealed and eroded, much like the Newfoundland coastlines filmed in all their splendour.
With a single reel of film and no visual editing, Claudie Lévesque embarks on a narrative style exercise and invites us to reflect on themes of absence and romantic relationships. In this poetic documentary, imbued with humour, tenderness, and nostalgia, the image and sound both contrast and complement each other, as every word and silence resonates and takes on a particular significance.
