Originally from Thessaloniki, Eleftherios Panagiotou lives and works in Athens. He studied physics and astrophysics in Spain. A self-taught filmmaker, he has nonetheless collaborated with professionals from film schools and workshops in Greece (Interior Landscapes), Belgium (CVB, CBA, INSAS), and France (École documentaire de Lussas). His work explores the human psyche and memory, seeking to synthesize cinematic perspectives that encourage reflection on social and political contexts. His films include I'm outside (2024), co-directed with Nina Alexandraki, the experimental work TerraNera (2024), and the feature-length film Asphaltos, currently in development.
The voices of Jamal’s North African friends, imprisoned in detention centres, come from the mountains around metropolitan Athens. He, confined to a small room on the eighth floor of a half-abandoned building, searches for the words that will resolve the labyrinth of life and existence.
