Whether or not one believes in destiny, there are moments in life when it becomes impossible not to feel faith in it, and not to feel grateful for it.

What draws me to this film is hearing the story through the grandmother’s narration. To me, grandmothers represent a universal emotional anchor, figures whose love transcends cultures and borders. Whether or not one understands Italian, her emotions go beyond language.

This is the kind of animation that relies heavily on its visual richness. Every frame is filled with detail, and each viewing reveals something new. Small traces of letters appear throughout the film—in the movement of the sea, on the nun’s clothing, and in other subtle corners of the image—creating a visual language that rewards attentive viewers. I also appreciated the integration of real photographs within the frames, a choice that adds intimacy to the narrative and grounds the animation in personal memories, making the film feel even more authentic.
