The Mexican landscape fades away into ashes and dust, fragmented, defaced and scorched. Behind barbed wirefences, forests, rivers and mountains fall to the hands of private companies. Driven by the themes of social injustice and citizen activism, Julien Élie offers, after meticulous research, a privileged glimpse into the struggles of these communities. The film is also a technical achievement: the cinematography is remarkable, and the original score creates an atmosphere that is both alarming and exceptional.
