Is it normal for a family to find itself homeless on July 1st? Is it normal for immigrants to be evicted from their apartments? Camera in hand, the Collectif (...) Parenthèses went to meet tenants and landlords in Quebec and Europe to answer this vital question: shouldn't housing be a right for every citizen?

What a highly relevant film, even though it was made 20 years ago! It reminds us that the housing crisis is not a recent issue. This collective work, co-produced by Vidéo Femmes, explores various aspects of the problem and even looks at solutions attempted in France and Italy, all with humor and sensibility.
As a member of the first Vidéo Femmes team, I see a certain connection between this film and our productions from the 1970s and 1980s, in terms of social concerns, creative freedom, and the overall philosophy of our collective.
However, the filmmakers who followed in our footsteps have evolved in many ways! The resources and technical quality have undoubtedly improved. The professionalism of the direction, the boldness of the subject matter, and the inventive use of animated sequences give this film an impressive originality and quality. The original music, the hilarious animated character, and the sharply ironic song continued to captivate me!
It is with great enthusiasm that I recommend watching this relevant and impactful film!
